About Christie's Counseling & Coaching

My Mission

At Christie's Counseling & Coaching, my mission is to provide quality mental health care and life skills coaching to my clients with compassion and respect.

My approach

I will pull from various modalities based on your personality, what your needs are, and what has and hasn’t worked well for you in the past. Sprinkle in a sense of humor along with some sarcasm, and we are rocking and rolling on this journey together.

About Me

Hi, and thank you for visiting my website. My name is Christie Lynch, and I am a licensed mental health counselor here in Washington state, with over 10 years’ experience in the field. I have my master’s in counseling psychology from California State University Bakersfield but was born and raised here in Washington. My claim to fame is that my grandfather helped name the Seahawks (true story).

I have worked with children, adolescents and adults in various settings from community mental health to a large private practice.

There are two warnings that I give all of my clients at the start of our journey together. The first is that my two main personality traits are sarcasm and humor. I will use them often, while knowing and respecting when it is best to be serious. The second is that I myself am neurodivergent struggling through this life with ADHD. There are times we’ll be talking, and a movie quote will pop into my head based on what we’re saying. If I don’t tell you the quote, I’ll be distracted the rest of the session. This is my warning, up front, that I am an odd duck. I know it, I embrace it, and I love it.

My Services

I offer online, individual mental health counseling to those in Washington ranging from ages 13-65, and online life skills coaching to those in Washington who are age 16+. If your child is under 13, but you think they would be a good fit for telehealth, feel free to reach out and we can discuss.

Limits to telehealth in mental health

Telehealth has been a wonderful addition to the everyday mental health practice since COVID entered our lives. However, there are some instances in which telehealth is not appropriate.

Children under the age of 11, typically have a harder time focusing during a telehealth session. Although, I love working with children, it is not as helpful online as it is in person. I would highly encourage you to find an in-person provider for younger child.

If you have been in inpatient treatment within the past three months, have had several crisis episodes within the past six months, or are actively struggling with suicidal ideation, telehealth is not the best fit for your needs. I suggest you find an in-person therapist. If you are in immediate crisis, please reach out to your local crisis number or call the national crisis hotline at 988.

My Mental Health Focus Area

I offer telehealth individual counseling to Washington residents from the ages 13 through the age of 65.

For adolescents, I can help you (or your child) if you’re struggling with depression, anxiety, ADHD (and everything that goes with it), trauma, adjustment disorder/life transition issues and oppositional defiant disorder. I would like to put a disclaimer, that often times, oppositional defiant disorder is over diagnosed and those behaviors are a result of something else going on. I would love to have the opportunity to figure out what that is. I can also help with other mental health symptoms/struggles as it relates to being LGBTQIA+ and/or chronically ill.

For adults, I can help you if you’re struggling with depression, anxiety, ADHD, trauma, adjustment disorder/life transition issues, relationship issues, and other mental health struggles as it relates to being LGBTQIA+ and/or chronically ill.

Am I a safe place?

We unfortunately live in a world where you don’t always feel safe to be your authentic self. As a Caucasian Cisgendered female, I know that I am deemed unsafe until I prove otherwise. With that said, I am a supporter of anyone under the LGBTQIA+ umbrella. I make sure to put in the effort to keep up to date on the research and be aware of both the struggles and victories that you face in these uncertain times.

Teenagers in Counseling

In our wonderful state of Washington, starting at the age of 13, an adolescent is entitled to their right to privacy. That means everything they tell me is confidential between me and them. Of course, there are exceptions to that rule as a mandated reporter. I can talk to the parent/guardian with a signed release of information by the adolescent, but otherwise they get their privacy.

Life Skills Coaching

I offer online life skills coaching for all Washington residents age 16+. Life skills coaching can fall under one of these categories, but this is not a conclusive list. If you would like coaching and don't see it here, please feel free to reach out and we can discuss if I can help you:

Money Handling 101: How to create a budget and look at what you have coming in vs what you have going out. Figuring out a budget for groceries, fun money, savings, etc. This is very basic money handling and not anything that would require me to be an accountant. If you need more intensive money management, such as investments, taxes, etc., please seek someone more qualified than I am.

Cleaning 101: How to keep your space clean and organized. What steps and products you need to clean a kitchen, bathroom, etc.

Time Management 101: How to make the most use of your time, either at work or on your off days. This can also include how to set up the most effective studying practices for you if you are in high school or college.

Cooking 101: Are the kind of person who burns boiling water? No idea what seasonings to use outside of salt and pepper? I got you. No, I am not a chef. I am just a person who enjoys cooking and can give you some pointers and coaching to live off of more than ramen noodles, toast and cereal.

Anything else: If you need help with things like job hunting, making friends, interviewing, etc. feel free to reach out to me and we can discuss if the skills you feel you need help in are something I feel comfortable coaching you on. I don't want to waste your time and money if I feel I can't be helpful for you.
